Helping Bonita Flood Victims

As we try and live out our mission – “Being the Hands, Feet, and Heart of Jesus” – we want to focus on helping the local needs of the flood victims in Bonita.  Obviously there are needs in Texas and we encourage you to give to the Red Cross for those victims but if you want to help people locally here is what you can do.

  1. Any gifts we receive at Anchor for the flood victims will go to the Bonita Assistance office who is working directly with flood victims in the way of food, clothing, and help with housing needs.  You can make your check out to the church and we will forward it to them.  100% of the funds will go to help flood victims.
  2. On Sunday, September 3rd we will collect food items to help with the meals being prepared for families.  Here are the current needs:
    1. Cooking Oil
    2. Canned Potatoes
    3. Maseca
    4. Pasta (boxed and bagged)
    5. Pasta Sauce
    6. Jelly/Jam (any size, any flavor)
    7. American Singles / Cheese Slices
    8. Refrigerated Deli Lunch meats
    9. Rice/Pasta side (Packets)
    10. Small Juice Boxes/Pouches
    11. Small Peanut Butter
    12. Small snack items
    13. Shampoo

They are taking perishable goods because they are preparing meals as we speak.  We can put

those items in the refrigerator at church until we take it to the Bonita Assistance Office.
3.  We have connected with specific family that got flooded out of their home and lost their furniture. They will need replacement furniture when they find a new place to live or are able to move back into the former place.  When that need arises we will let everyone know.
