Our story begins on September 8, 1985.  On that Sunday morning a group of around 40 people gathered at Shikany’s Funeral Home in Bonita Springs with the hope and dream that God would use them to write a great story.  From that early beginning God quickly blessed the church and began filling the pages with stories of victory.  Only seven weeks after its beginning the church had to  move to the Bonita Middle School on Terry Street because they had run out of room in the funeral home.   One year after the church began 74 people signed the original charter of the church and the dream became a reality.  The first minister at Anchor was  Cameron Mason, who was sent from the Suncoast Evangelizing Association.  Cameron led the church with great vision and enthusiasm.

In 1987 the church had grown to the point where another exciting chapter was added to its story.  The church was able to purchase land on E. Terry in Bonita and with the help of Jack Bullard Church Builders erected the frame of the church in one week.  Many members and volunteers invested many hours into building the church building.

Over the years Anchor has always been a congregation where the Bible has been preached and God has been glorified.  There have been many great people who have come and gone over the years.  There have been many stories of lives changed because of the ministry of Anchor.

Currently we are at an exciting place as we continue to write our story.  Over the last couple of years we have been strategically working to be a church that ministers to the multiple generations of Southwest Florida.  We have expanded our offerings in worship, Bible School, and Youth Ministry.  We are raising up new leaders and striving to reach the next generation for the Lord.  We now have 4 full time staff members to lead the ministry at Anchor.

In 2017 we began a “Building the Kingdom” campaign and developed a 2 phase building program for the church.  Phase 1 is designed to build a Ministry Center Building that will have a large Fellowship/Recreation area, a new kitchen, and new classrooms.  We are on schedule to begin construction on Phase 1 sometime in 2018.  Phase 2 involves building a new Worship Center that will seat around 400 people, along with new nursery and toddler areas.

We want to invite you to come and be a part of our story!  God has a place for you in His church and there are many blank pages that have yet to be written.  Come and see how you fit in to His story!
